After months in the making, Stephen Wilson installed Legacy this week, his largest single work and commission to-date. The 8.5 x 4.5 foot American flag is displayed in a lobby of the brand new AC Hotel Charlotte City Center above the Epicentre in Uptown Charlotte. Replacing the iconic red and white stripes with bands of tailored symbols, Legacy uniquely references Charlotte’s cultural life through recognizable images ranging from panthers and racing tracks to Old-English crowns. This very special public commission was an exciting tribute for Wilson to create in homage to the home of his studio - the “Queen City.”
